What to do if your child is sick

**If your child may be experiencing a life threatening emergency, please call 911**

We offer appointments for sick children 6 days a week.  Please call Chatham Pediatrics at 919-525-2844 after 8 am if you would like to schedule an appointment.

Our experienced nurses are also available to return phone calls from Chatham Pediatrics’ patients during our regular business hours.  We request that messages for a nurse be left at least 1 hour prior to the end of our office hours.  Nurses will assess calls and return urgent messages the same day.  Messages that are not assessed to be urgent may be returned the next business day.

Chatham Pediatrics’  patients can communicate with us through their AthenaHealth Portal.  Portal messages are returned within 1-2 business days.  Communication through the portal is not intended for urgent medical issues. 

For general information about children’s health issues, we recommend the websites www.kidshealth.org or www.healthychildren.org.  (Chatham Pediatrics has no affiliation with either of these websites).

If you have an urgent concern when our office is closed, you can call our office to be connected with medical staff after hours.  If your child is older than 6 months of age and has private insurance, we may charge a fee for calls that go through an after hours nurse line.  (This is to help offset the cost of the nurse line, as private insurance does not cover these calls).
